4 Profitable Coronavirus Promotions For Bars & Restaurants - Part 1 

What’s up guys, Nick Fosberg here and welcome to this 4 part video series where I’m going to tell you about 3 covid 19 promotions I’ve been running at my bar Fozzy’s that’s helped me acquire new customers, get me over $15,000 in free publicity, and boost sales by over $20,000 over the last month.

In video 4, I’m going to give you another promotion you can run that got another bar restaurant owner I know an average of 110 phone calls for curbside pick up using a $10 a day paid ad strategy that you can run on auto-pilot.

Over $15,000 In Free Publicity 

The first promotion is something you may have already seen or heard about, but stay with me because this is what got me over $15,000 in free publicity. I’ll also be sharing the e-mail I used to get reporters reaching out to me to give me this kind of exposure.

The first promotion is the “Buy A First Responder A Meal Program” and the reason this is so powerful is it makes you and your brand look like a hero to your community, while at the same time boosting your sales. 

The way I came up with this promotion was from watching the news and Facebook newsfeed the first 2 weeks of the virus. I saw how worried Drs and nurses were. So I thought it would be cool to put a program in place where the general public could buy them a meal.

The way I set this up is using a digital gift card company called Its On Me. Their platform allows you to send gift cards to anyone by email or text, but what I like most about it is, you can send a personal message with the gift card. 

So what I did was I created a gift card on their platform for $12 that said “Any Meal On Our Menu”. Here’s an image of the landing page that brought them to that menu item. 

Once I had the system in place to deliver these gift cards I then had to get the word out. So I created a video and put it on our Facebook page and then sent 6 emails out to the PR departments of our top radio, tv, newspaper publications and told them about the program I was doing.

The result, 4 of the 6 publications reached out to do interviews. 

Here is the RRSTAR our newspaper, I had about 1/4 page in our local and state section, plus they put online and on their social channels. 

I then had WIFR our top rated news station come out and interview me along with 2 others who bought meals for first responder friends.

In the first week we sold a little over 70 meals and more keep trickling in each week. What I liked most about this is we were able to bring something positive the community and people will always remember this.
