Nick Fosberg here with another episode of Bar Restaurant Success. Today, I’m going to tell you how to cash in on junk food profits next month! July 21st is considered to be National Junk Food Day and this is the perfect reason to come up with a great offer for your customers.

Let me ask you this. How many times have you run this promotion or how many times have your competitors run a National Junk Food Day promotion on July 21st? Probably never, right? This is how you differentiate yourself from everyone else and give people a reason to want to do business with you over the competition.

So let’s talk about what kind of offers you could run. You could do a 1/2 price appetizer special, you could do a buy 2 get one free, you could do bring in a group of 4 and get 25% off your junk food! The list can go on and on. What matters here is that you are infusing this offer with a themed holiday which means it’s giving people a reason to take you up on your offer.

It’s all about being creative and fun. That’s what people want and when you can market your business with creative and fun strategies, your ROI on your marketing dollars skyrockets.

One of the ways I’d promote this is using my e-mail list. Now, I wouldn’t just send them an image of a flyer or send them a short message saying, “July 21st half-priced appetizers for National Junk Food Day. Show this e-mail to redeem!”

Instead, I would open up with a conversational message and create a story of how you came up with this idea and why you’re making them this offer. I’d have a little fun with it. Personally, I’m pretty strict about my diet and I have a personal trainer I go to 4 days a week. So within my e-mail, I will talk about how I’m a health nut but there’s always those days that you just need to eat whatever you want. Then, I’d say July 21st is going to be one of those days.

When you can write emails like this and talk about who you are and what you stand for, this builds an instant relationship with customers who may not know you that well. These relationship-based e-mails are the key to growing a loyal following and keeping your e-mails getting read and opened.
