Hey Nick Fosberg here with Bar Owner TV. Today I’m going to tell you about a marketing strategy that I believe is one of the most effect strategies you could be using to promote your events, specials, and promotions.
Have you ever gone to a website where you were looking to buy something or maybe you were just there looking for information and then you click off to go to another web page and you see that same exact business advertisement in your face that you were just looking at?
Days later the same thing happens? This is called Retargeting and here’s why you should be using it in your business.
According to CMO.com retargetting can boost ad response by 400%. Think about that. If your advertising could get a 400% increase in conversions, customers taking you up on your offers, what could that do to your sales?
Now let me tell you how I’m using retargeting in my own bars and how this works with Facebook. Inside of Facebook’s advertising platform you can get a piece of code to put on your website. If you’re not a tech Savvy person don’t worry, you don’t need to be, hire this out to your web guy.
So back to this code. What this piece of code does is it tracks every person who hits your website and what you can do is you can create custom audiences in Facebook based on the pages that they are hitting on your website.
For example, I’ve placed this code on my website and anyone who hits my “Live Entertainment Page” then gets put into a custom audience called “Interested In Live Entertainment” As people keep going to my live entertainment page, the list, the audience keeps building and building.
Now when I have a new band coming in, I can create ads inside of Facebook that ONLY target those people who’ve hit my entertainment page. So instead of spending money marketing to the masses, I can now target ONLY people who have visited my live entertainment page, which then allows me to get a much higher ROI on my marketing dollars.
Here’s another way we are using Facebook Retargeting. I create multiple promotions a year where I will drive traffic to a lead capture website, a one page site to capture someone’s email and name, in which they get some kind of valuable offer in exchange.
I get this information so I can send follow up marketing messages leading up to the promotion in order to get the best results.
If people hit my lead capture site, but don’t opt in, I create ads that target those people in order to drive them back to that page to opt in. This is what CMO.com was taking about. You get an average of a 400% higher conversion rate.
Lets say you are trying to pick up wednesday night and you have a great special. You can drive traffic to the web page that promotes that night and start building a custom audience in Facebook called “Wednesday Night”
Then you create ads to target that group of people to stay in front of them in the most cost effective way. You could do the same thing with your menu. Create retargeting ads where your food stays in front of them on a consistent basis.
The truth is retargeting is the wave of the future for marketing because it’s proven that when people see your ads / promotions multiple times, they are 400% more likely to convert into a buyer or take some kind of action. Doing this with Facebook allows you to do this for pennies on the dollar. There is no other marketing platform that allows you to do this.
If you think retargeting would be a great way to increase your sales. if you think it’s a smarter more effective approach, but don’t want to take the time to learn how to use it in your business, shoot me an email to Nick@BarOwner.TV or click the link below and I can give you a free 20 minute consultation call on how to apply it in your business.
Cheers and I’ll see you on the next episode.
