The Ultimate February Bar Promotion:
Singled Out Game Show Promo
While all the married couples and engaged love birds are out at their favorite restaurant gazing into each others’ eyes and feeding each other chocolate desserts, your bar could be packed on the
Valentine’s Day for “Single Awareness Day” by running a Singled Out Game Show Promo.
This is something I did last year and it was a huge success and a lot of fun.
The Concept
Do you remember the game show “Singled Out” on MTV back in the 90’s? Jenny McCarthy was the host. Not going to lie, I had a pretty BIG crush on her and was the only reason I’d rush home right after leaving grade school.
Anyways, the concept was where you’d have one single guy blind folded and there would be single 3 women participating to answer questions. Jenny McCarthy, my ex-crush, would ask the girls some crazy questions about themselves. Based on a few rounds of crazy questions and answers, the guy would then pick one (remember he’s blind folded, can’t see, only hear) to go on a blind date. Then this would switch up to one girl blind folded, 3 guys answering questions.
How You Can Run This Same Bar Promotion & Pack The House With New & Existing Customers
Here’s what you do. Get your staff on board to find 4 girls and 4 guys to participate. Single of course! Then come up with a bunch of fun, crazy, and maybe some embarrassing questions to ask.
Come up with a prize to the winners. We did a $100 gift card to a local restaurant, which you could get donated for nothing if you include them in your marketing plan.
I would create some drink specials for the night that are highly profitable and named to fit the promotion. Create 2 for guys and 2 for girls. Panty dropper. The sexy cowboy. I’m just making these names up as I go, but I’m sure you get the point. Your customers will buy to be a part of the craziness.
What You Must Have!
You must have a host for this event. Can be your DJ. Could be a radio host in your area. But you must have someone who is fun and energetic on the mic. I was the host for mine because I love doing off the wall crazy stuff like this with my customers.
Make This Last &
Keep Everyone Excited!
After you do your round and the first group is up, start the next one 45 minutes later. Make sure you have a DJ to keep the place going. Come up with a whole new list of questions so it’s not just like the last ones.
Have the host announce what’s to come, just like they do it on the news and tv shows. They talk about something that excites you, where you want to know more, and then they’ll tell you, “More to come right after the break!” That’s what I’m talking about. Keep them wondering what’s to come.
How To Promote
Your staff and social media are great ways to get the word out, but if you really want to take this to the next level, utilize Facebook’s Power editor and target women within a certain radius of your bar or restaurant, based on whether they “like” bars or restaurants. Get your staff to promote this on their social media channels. Give your staff incentives for signing people up.
